Forsayth

The former mining town of Forsayth, 300 kilometres southwest of Cairns in Jangga country, lies in the Etheridge minerals area and takes its name from the middle name of former Commissioner for Railways James Forsayth Thallon.

The settlement developed as the terminus of the Etheridge Railway after 1910.

European settlement dates back to the Etheridge gold rush in 1871.

The location was initially known as Finnigan's Camp and today serves as the destination of the weekly Savannahlander train service and an access point for nearby Cobbold Gorge.
