Mulligan Highway
The 266-kilometre Mulligan Highway, named after bushman and prospector James Venture Mulligan, runs between Mareeba and Cooktown.
The sealed highway, passing through Mount Molloy, Mount Carbine and Lakeland, completed in 2006, was formerly the Cooktown Developmental Road and reduced the travelling time from Cairns to Cooktown from 6 to 3½ hours.
