Bloomfield River

The Bloomfield River, flowing into the sea north of Cape Tribulation, is noted for its Bloomfield River cod, found only in the river.

It was initially named "Blomfield's Rivulet" on 26 June 1818 by Phillip Parker King. Today, it forms part of the border between the Douglas and Cook Shires.

While there is no township of Bloomfield, there is a Bloomfield School, and the former Bloomfield River Mission has been renamed Wujal Wujal.

Although plans for a township at Degarra on the south side of the river were drawn up, the settlement failed to eventuate.
