Flaggy Rock
Located just under one hundred kilometres south of Mackay on Guwinmal country within the boundaries of the Isaac Regional Council, the sugar-growing locality of Flaggy Rock provides a welcome refreshment break for travellers on a sparsely populated stretch of the Bruce Highway.
The settlement was originally known as Yukalgi (home of the Death Adder), a staging and changeover post for stagecoaches travelling between Mackay and Rockhampton. Subsequently, the hard rock that formed the base of the road prompted the name change to Flaggy Rock.
