Richmond Shire
The Shire of Richmond, on Wanamarra in northwestern Queensland's Gulf Country, covers an area of 26,581 square kilometres and has existed as a local government entity since 1916, when the Shire of Wyangarie, named for a prominent grazing property in the area, was excised from the Flinders Shire. Wyangarie Shire lost part of its area to the Shire of McKinlay in 1930 and was renamed Richmond Shire in July 1954.
