Etheridge Shire
Located in Ewamin and Jangga country in Far North Queensland's Giulf Savannah, the Shire of Etheridge, covering an area of 39,199 square kilometres, has existed as a local government entity since 1882. Its economy is based on cattle grazing and mining.
With a population of 720, the Einasleigh Division, created in November 1879, was one of seventy-four divisions created under the Divisional Boards Act 1879. It became the Shire of Einasleigh in March 1903 and was renamed Shire of Etheridge six years later.
