Gia

The Gia people (a.k.a. Giya, Kia, Bumbarra, with the latter possibly a toponym referring to a particular band or horde) spoke a dialect of the Biri language and, according to Norman Tindale, occupied around 4,100 square kilometres of territory from Bowen to St. Helens and Mount Dalrymple extending inland to the Clarke Range. Their territory included Proserpine, Gloucester Island, and Repulse Bay. To their east, the Ngaro inhabited the Whitsunday Islands and Cape Conway, with the Yuwibara to their south. The Biri to their west and the Yuru to the north.
