The AIATSIS Map of Indigenous Australia places the Yambina (alternatively, Jambina, Jampa:l, Jampal, Muthoburra, Mutholburra, Narboo Murre, Yambeena) in the Peak Downs district west-southwest of Mackay and west of Moranbah with the Yangga as their northern neighbours, the Barna to the east, the Wangan to tjhe south, the Yagalingu to the southwest and the Miyan to the west.
Their traditional territory covered about 6,500 square kilometres, including Logan Creek, south of Avon Downs and Solferino. It extended as far east as the Denham Range and Logan Downs, west to around Elgin Downs.
Their language — considered a dialect within the Biri language group — seems extinct; no speakers have been recorded since before 1975.
