Keppel Bay
Extending from Station Point on Curtis Island to Zilzie Point and Emu Park on the mainland, Keppel Bay receives the discharge of the Fitzroy River, which enters the bay at its southern end. On 27 May 1770, James Cook named the bay after the Royal Navy's Admiral Augustus Keppel, a Lord Commissioner of the Admiralty and later First Lord of the Admiralty.
Despite their name, Keppel Bay Islands National Park's islands lie north and east of the bay, rather than in the bay itself.
