Torilla Peninsula
Separating Shoalwater Bay on its eastern side from Broad Sound, which lies to the west, the Torilla Peninsula is roughly 120 km north-northwest of Rockhampton.
The 25,000-hectare Torilla Plain — a marine plain system with a complex network of fresh and saline wetlands — covers much of the peninsula outside the Shoalwater Bay Military Training Area. Five independently owned properties on the plain and adjacent low hills — Fernleigh, Toorilla Plains, Toorilla, Couti-Outi and Hollins Bay — focus on cattle breeding and fattening.
