Rockhampton Region
Placeholder page. Content in preparation.
Located on the Tropic of Capricorn around 500 kilometres north-northwest of Brisbane, the Rockhampton Region was formed by the amalgamation of Rockhampton City and three surrounding Central Queensland Local Government Areas — the Shires of Fitzroy, Livingstone and Mount Morgan. Livingstone Shire was restored as an independent Council in January 2014.
The 6,570 square kilometre region includes all or part of the State electorates of Rockhampton, Keppel and Mirani and the Federal divisions of Capricornia and Flynn. Predictably, Rockhampton is the region's major city.
