Capricorn Coast

Located on Darumbal Country within the Livingstone Shire's boundaries, the Capricorn Coast takes its name from Cape Capricorn, named for its position on the Tropic of Capricorn by James Cook on 24 May 1770.

Officially defined, the Coast extends from the mouth of Water Park Creek to the mouth of the Fitzroy River at Thompson Point, approximately 75 kilometres of long sweeping beaches dotted with rocky outcrops, remnants of extinct volcanoes.
