Inner Islands a.k.a. Thursday Island group or Kaiwalagal Archipelago
(Kaiwalagal Kawrareg Aboriginal Nation)These islands lie closest to the Cape York Peninsula. Several have permanent freshwater springs, and some were mined for gold in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They were also centres of pearling and fishing industries. Culturally and linguistically, the Near Western group's Moa belongs to this group.
