Island Point
George Elphinstone Dalrymple named Island Point — the coastal headland in Djabugay Country 58 kilometres north-northwest of Cairns, on which Port Douglas was subsequently established — on 23 October 1873 due to the apparent isolation of the headland before the low land connecting it with the coast rises into view.
