State Electoral Districts: Burdekin
Established in 1949 when a redistribution abolished the electoral district of Bowen with subsequent modifications to its boundaries in later redistributions, the electoral district of Burdekin is centred on Ayr and Home Hill, extending north to include semi-rural localities on Townsville's southern fringe and south to include the coal-mining centres of Collinsville, Moranbah and Clermont. The electorate is named after the Burdekin River.
