Rossville

Located 30 kilometres south of Cooktown in Kuku Yalanji Country, Rossville townshoip gives its name to a surrounding locality that stretches to the Coral Sea — with Cedar Bay National Park to its south and Annan River (Yuku Baja-Muliku) National Park on its northern side — that includes the smaller township of Helenvale — home of the iconic Lions Den Hotel —and the offshore Hope Islands — named by James Cook after the Endeavour ran aground off Cape Tribulation on 13 June 1770.

The Annan River and East Normanby River both rise on the slopes of the Trevethan Range in the locality's south.
