Lakefield
Situated within the Cook Shire on Lamalama country, Lakefield, situated north of Laura and around 150 kilometres northwest of Cooktown, extends to the shores of Princess Charlotte Bay and beyond, encompassing several islands, including Clack Island, King Island, and the Flinders Group.
Much of the locality lies within the boundaries of Rinyirru (formerly Lakefield) National Park—Queensland's second largest park with an area of 5,370 square kilometres— which stretches from Princess Charlotte Bay to Laura and includes sections of the Normanby, Morehead, and North Kennedy Rivers and an assortment of lakes, billabongs, and wetlands.
