Einasleigh River
Rising near Lyndhurst in the Atherton Tablelands' Einasleigh Uplands, the Einasleigh River flows through Agwamin/Ewamian Country, draining the western slopes of the Great Dividing Range below Mount Remarkable. Thirty-three tributaries, including the Copperfield and Etheridge Rivers and numerous creeks, join the Einasleigh before it flows into the Gilbert River north of Croydon, spilling into a 100-kilometre-wide estuarine delta of tidal flats and mangrove swamps.
The 618-kilometre river drains a 24,366 square kilometre catchment which, when combined with the Gilbert's 22,041 square kilometre catchment forms northern Australia's largest river system.
The Gulf Development Road crosses the river east of Georgetown.
