The CLAUDIE RIVER rises in the heart of the Janet Range, in about 12° 40' S., and flows south-eastward into Lloyd Bay. It was discovered by the prospector William Lakeland and named by him after his son Claud. (R.L. Jack. Northmost Australia, Vol.2, p.696.)
