Cape Palmerston National Park

Located on Yuwibara country in one of the few remaining areas of undeveloped coastline between Bowen and St Lawrence, the 7200ha Cape Palmerston National Park conserves a range of plant communities, including mangroves, beach scrubs, woodlands, grasslands, wetlands, and riverside rainforests. The mangroves and saltpans within the park are important fish breeding areas.
The park takes its name from Cape Palmerston, named by James Cook in June 1770 after Viscount Palmerston, one of the Lords of the Admiralty
