Butchers Hill Station

Established by James Earl in 1874 with his share of the stock from Yacamunda Station, Butchers Hill took its name from Butcher Hill Farm in Littleport, Cambridgeshire, where Earl lived before coming to Melbourne in the gold rush era. The cattle station's location relative to the Palmer River and West Normanby goldfields enabled it to supply meat to local miners and to Cooktown.

The former station, along with the neighbouring Springvale station, is now part of Lakeland Downs.
