Gregory Highway
Named after the explorer and surveyor Augustus Charles Gregory, the 900 kilometres Gregory Highway passes through Agwamin/Ewamian, Gugu-Badhun, Yilba, Yangga, Yambina, Wangan and Gayiri Country, linking the Gulf Development Road and the Dawson Highway via the Central Queensland coalfields.
The highway runs southward from Quartz Blow Creek, 31 kilometres west of Mount Surprise, passing through Einasleigh, Charters Towers, Belyando Crossing, Clermont, Capella, Emerald and Springsure.
The state government designates the northern section as the Gregory Developmental Road. The southern section between Clermont and Springsure is designated the Gregory Highway.
