Something About The North
Although it subsequently branched off in various directions, this is where the project started: an intention to write Something About The North.
This title introduces the project, provides a geographic and historical orientation, explains what is on offer and provides a progress report on each strand. It is currently in draft form. The active links connect to the chapters that will eventually form Version 1.0.
In Beginnings, I cover the circumstances that prompted the decision to write something about The North, the factors that influence the content, how it evolved and what is on offer elsewhere on the website.
The North, still in draft form, will deliver an introduction to the region and identify some of the main themes running through its history and the pre-settlement back story.
From there, A Separate North will examine the perceived differences between The North and the rest of Australia and the history of separatist movements.
