Warrego River
From headwaters in the Carnarvon Range east of Tambo, the Warrego River flows generally south, joining the Darling River downstream from Bourke at the end of its 1,380-kilometre course. Thirty-seven tributaries, including the Nive and Langlo, join the Warrego as its course takes it past Augathella, Charleville, Wyandra and Cunnamulla.
The Warrego is an ephemeral stream; years may pass without any flow in the 69,290-square-kilometre basin, and significant inflows usually reach the Darling in wet years associated with La Niña events.
