Located on the north bank of the Burnett River in Wakka Wakka Country, 132 kilometres southwest of Bundaberg, 270 kilometres northwest of Brisbane and 227 kilometres north of Toowoomba, Mundubbera takes its name from the pastoral run established by H.P. Bouverie in 1848, and an Aboriginal expression describing climbing steps cut in a tree trunk.
