Port Musgrave
Named after Queensland Governor Sir Anthony Musgrave by Hugh Milinan and Edward Cullen in 1887, Port Musgrave is probably the opening named Prince River by Abel Janszoon Tasman in 1644. The shallow, almost enclosed bay on Cape York Peninsula's western coast is the coastal outlet for the Wenlock and Ducie Rivers. The freshwater swamps surrounding the estuary's tidal flats and mangroves are an important breeding area for saltwater crocodiles.
The bay and nearby Duyfken Point mark the Uradhi dialect cluster's southern extremity. The Aboriginal community of Mapoon lies on its southern shore.
