George Elphinstone Dalrymple's original name for Meunga Creek, north of Cardwell, after the Bowen-based Native Mounted Police officer John By Durnford Marlow, who commanded the Native Police detachment that accompanied his expedition to establish a settlement at Cardwell in 1864.
