Forsayth

The former mining town of Forsayth, 300 kilometres southwest of Cairns and 268 kilometres west of Ingham in Agwamin/Ewamin and Jangga country, lies in the Etheridge minerals area and takes its name from the middle name of former Commissioner for Railways James Forsyth Thallon.

The settlement developed as the terminus of the Etheridge Railway after 1910.

European settlement dates back to the Etheridge gold rush in 1871.

The location was initially known as Finnigan's Camp (later Charleston) and today serves as the destination of the weekly Savannahlander tourist train and as an access point to nearby Cobbold Gorge.
