Tully Falls

Located on the Atherton Tablelands, 20 kilometres south-southeast of Ravenshoe, 57 kilometres southwest of Innisfail and 71 kilometres northwest of Cardwell, in the Tully Falls National Park within the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Wet Tropics, the Tully Falls marked the eastern boundary of Dyirbal country.

The Falls take their name from the Tully River, named after Queensland Surveyor-General William Alcock Tully.

Until the Koombooloomba Dam was built upstream of the falls in 1960, diverting much — but not all — of the Tully River's flow to the Kareeya Hydro Power Station, the large volume horsetail type waterfall was rated among Australia's best waterfalls. Since then, they flow intermittently, usually during periods of heavy wet-season rainfall.
