Ganggalidda
Although they appear in Norman Tindale's Aboriginal Tribes of Australia as the Jokula (alternatively, Yukulta, Jukula, Jugul, Jugulda, Jogula, Jokala, Jokul, Jokal, Iukala, Yukula, Yookala, Eugoola, Jungulda (Yanggal exonym), Kanggaleida (Yanggal term), Yangarella and Engarilla) Ganggalida, as used on the AIATSIS Map of Indigenous Australia is the name most commonly applied to both the people and the extinct Tangkic language they spoke.
Ganggalidda country encompassed around 14,000 square kilometres on the Gulf of Carpentaria coast opposite the Wellesley Islands northwest of Burketown, extending to Hann Creek and Massacre Inlet, with another stretch of coastline west of Cliffdale Creek with an eastern frontier at the mouth of the Albert River near Escott. Their inland extension did not stretch as far south as the Nicholson River but stretched south-west as far as the start of the hill country and south-east to a series of creeks and waterholes - Wild Horse Creek, Lily Waterhole, Flying-fox Waterhole and Tarpot Creek.
To the west, their neighbours were the coastal Yanuwa and the inland Garawa, with the Waanyi to their southwest, the Nguburinji to their south, and the Mingginda to the east.
