What Mob Is That?

Barbaram/ Mbarbaram

Norman Tindale's Aboriginal Tribes of Australia places the Barbaram (alternatively, Mbarbaram, (Um)Barbarem, Barbarum, Mogmbabarum (['mok] = man), WumbabaramTjapukai term, Oombarbarum, Woombarbarram, Booburam, Balbarum, WoombarrmbarraWakara term) on 2,600 square kilometres along the Great Dividing Range from Mareeba to Irvinebank and Mount Garnet, extending west to the high ground around Almaden, Koorboora and Petford.

While they had been a rain scrub dwelling people, they seem to have moved west out of the rainforest in prehistoric times.

They appear on the AIATSIS Map of Indigenous Australia as the Mbarbaram.
