Suburban Auchenflower
While Auchenflower House acquired what seems to have amounted to its own private railway station in 1888, McIlwraith's acreage remained intact until well after its former owner's death in July 1900. In the meantime, although suburban development had crept onto some of the other blocks shown on the 1859 surveyor's map, this 1895 map shows significant sections that had not attrected the subdividers' attention.

Around thirty years later, the aerial photograph in the sidebar shows a landscape almost btotally transformed into a predominantly Protestant version of suburbia.
